Capri Mk3 280 Brooklands

This Capri 280 did not look bad for its age, but on closer inspection, the car had been painted several times before and had some poor repair issues that need to be addressed

The main issue was the roof, which had corroded before around the usual sunroof appature and unfortunately been previously repaired to a sub-standard level. This meant a new roof skin was required. As this part is no longer obtainable, a reclaimed panel was used. Yes - this is possible for those in the know!

Another area in need of attention was the strut tops. Once again this area of the car had been previously repaired to a sub-standard level. The only answer was to remove the front wings and turret strengthener plates to gain access to the corroded inner wings. Once the repairs were completed, the original wings were repaired and refitted

Once all the repair work was completed, the complete vehicle was hand blocked to obtain a smooth ripple free surface in preperation for its new paint
The car was treated to a new coat of brooklands green basecoat and laquer using 2-pack materials. All done in a low bake oven.
This car turned into a 'Not bad looking car for its age' to a 'stunning example of this model' - In its correct colour!!!!

Alan's comments: Wow! I cannot believe how incorrect the colour was, but now looks fantastic!
