Capri Mk1 Custom V8

This Capri was purchased by its owner Jon in 2003. As you can see from the picture below it looked ok. However its beauty was only skin deep and appeared to have spent many years being patched up to keep it on the road. Jon had decided it was time to restore the car or send it to the scrap yard, which would have been a crying shame. Prior Restoration the car was completely original.

One of the first jobs was to remove the front wings to reveal the level of rust to the structure. As can be seen the corrosion was quite extensive.

After looking into the cost and availability of new genuine parts, it was decided to rebuild the car with reclaimed panels, sourced from Retroford International. It was not the cheapest solution, but John wanted to keep the car's structure as original as possible.

After much deliberation it was decided that the car deserved a touch of individuality. Flared arches and front bib were fitted. Mk2 Escort Zakspeed parts were cut and fettled to fit.

Some mechanical parts were renewed from a donor 2.8 injection Capri, including a limited slip diff axle, front suspension and brakes. All parts were cleaned, painted and polybushes fitted throughout.

After all the bodywork was completed the car was treated to fresh paint in its original colour of Modena green at Autoshape. This was completed to a very high standard in 2 pack paint in a low bake oven and I am sure you will agree looks outstanding.

Jon's comments: What a transformation. I cannot believe how well it has come out. The attention to detail above and below the body. I would definately recommend Restore-A-Ford. Well worth the money. I think I will need to rename it the 'Green Goddess'!
