This immaculate original Mk1 Capri has been owned by Reg for over 30 years. It was a privilege to be entrusted with the modifications that he wanted as it had never been away from him during all this time.
After seeing the wheel arch modifications carried out on the Modena Green Capri at the Ace Cafe during the summer of 2007, he believed he had found the right restoration company to carry out the extensive modifications.
Initially, wider arches were to be fitted along with bonnet vents. Other ideas evolved when he saw the quality and skill of workmanship, including rear air vents and a bonnet air intake.
The pictures below show the bonnet vents. They are pressed steel as it was not possible to have the bonnet itself pressed due to structural constraints. However, some serious modifications have been undertaken to the inner framework to allow the vents to function as opposed to purely asthetics.
The rear air intakes are hand fabricated from steel and welded into the original quarter panel pressing, so as to look factory, and yes they are fully functional!
The bonnet scoop is again a one-off hand fabricated piece created to look factory to allow air-flow for the monster V8 engine.
The wheel arch kit needed modifications to allow clearance for the huge 15 inch wheels that will reside under them once completed. As with the Green Capri they have been blended in to complement the lines of the car. Once again giving that factory look. Modification to the inner wing area was required to handle the Cosworth power brake system.
Once all the work was completed, it was down to the oven for its fresh coat of paint. Ferrari Silverstone was the colour of choice.
The body modifications are only part of the story as this car also boasts the power of a supercharged TVR V8 engine. Not only will this car be imposing on the stage but on the road as well, so if you own a super car and see this behind you don't bother!!
