1982 Mk3 Ford Capri 2.0 Cabaret

This Ford Capri 2.0 Caberet 2 had only coverd 61,000 miles so when a tree fell on to the front of the car Tom decided to bring it to us for the repair work to be carried out.
At the same time he requested that Restore-A-Ford should carry out a light restoration to the front end of the vehicle, namely the wings and ends of the front panel.
The first job was to repair the wing and scuttle panel. The bonnet was replaced with a reclaimed panel as it was not viable to repair the original bonnet.
After this had been completed, the corrosion to the front end was addressed.
The front panel was in great condition with the exception to the ends. The wing bolt flanges had completely corroded away. Due to the rarity and cost of a replacement front panel, it was decided to repair the ends. Fortunatley we had, in stock both ends which had been removed from another car due to the front panel being damaged in the centre beyond repair. These were cut into position and butt welded to the exsisting front panel.
The front wings also were subject to corrosion around the front areas. Again the corroded areas were cut out and repaired using fabricated parts and some sections we had from left-over panels.
The headlamp bowls also needed some corrosion repair work. The complete front end was then prepared for refinish in its Caspian over Glacier metalic paintwork. The colour was blended into the adjacent panels as required, prior to being lacquered. New stripes were then applied to the front wings and the car refitted and cleaned before being handed back to the owner who was very happy to have it back and on the road looking nice again.

Tom's comments: I am glad to have it back on the road!
