Vernon has owned this Mk2 Capri since 1986. It was restored 7 years ago by owner. Since its restoration Vernon decided it was time to have a V8 powered capri.
This has meant some modifications have been required to the engine compartment, hence he has entrusted the car to Restore-A-Ford to finish the engine bay to a show standard as the car so fittingly deserves.
He has also requested we carry out some minor repairs to other areas of the vehicle due to some misshaps when fitting the engine!
The pictures below show the areas where the radiator support panels have been removed. Some making good was required to the inner wings in these areas.
Also can be seen is the bulk head, all the sound deadening material has been removed as the owner wanted to go for the smooth clean look.
The first picture below shows the slam panel modifications to accept the new larger radiator that will be required to cool the v8 engine that is to be the powerplant of this car. The subsequent pictures show the engine compartment after all repairs have been completed and primer has been applied.
The first picture shows the engine compartment after preperation and sealant application in readiness for paint. Pictures two and three show the engine bay after returning from the paintshop all ready for the V8 to be reunited with the car. At the same time the front panel was repainted due to an unfortunate misshap when the owner was trial fitting the engine.
The bonnet was resprayed and refitted to the car ready for pick up. It was then taken home eagerly awaited by its owner. We hope to see it on the show circuit next year when Vernon has completed the engine install.
